A post published on Microsoft’s development blog in 2021, introducing potential software developers to their new role, states that Microsoft employed over 100,000 software developers.

In 2022 and 2023 Microsoft, much like many other technology companies, underwent large tech layoffs. Although it’s not been mentioned, it is safe to assume this number is lower as of q1 2024.
